Telescopic Fishing Rod

We here at the Telescopic Fishing Rod web site are serious fishermen.  We all own expensive, single piece fishing rods in a variety of brands.  But we are also avid outdoorsmen who know that not every outing lends itself well to hauling around six and seven foot fishing rods.  There is nothing wrong with a telescoping fishing rod, the Okuma VS-605-20 Voyager Spinning Travel Kit is a perfect example of a quality setup that breaks down for easy travel and a sets up for an excellent fishing experience.

Telescopic fishing rods are designed to collapse to very short lengths for the purpose of making the fishing rod substantially more portable.  Very long fishing rods can collapse down to as little as one foot. For camping and hiking outings where hauling long rods would be impractical, or when surf fishing and an extra-long rod is needed to get the bait out as far as possible, the telescopic fishing rod is a fantastic option.

Telescopic fishing rods are manufactured using the exact same materials used to make traditional one or two piece rods. Using graphite or fiberglass, telescopic rods sections are designed in a way that allows each section to slide into the next allowing the rod to collapse to a very short and portable length.  The eyes are usually a special design that reinforces the ends of each section. The Okuma VS-605-20 Voyager Spinning Travel Kit includes a six-foot graphite composite rod with a comfortable cork grip, ceramic guide inserts, stainless steel hooded reel seats, a ball bearing drive system, a corrosion-resistant aluminum spool, and a soft-sided carry case.

One of the most popular uses of the telescopic fishing rod is surf fishing. It can be quite a challenge hauling a 15 foot fishing pole around, so the nice compact design of the telescopic rod makes them extremely portable. Short sections are the key to good telescopic fishing rod design.  By adding more sections and more eyes the stress of casting and reeling in fish is distributed better along the length of the rod. This actually allows the fisherman to cast the bait farther and provides extra strength when reeling in that trophy fish!
